Prime Minister Witnesses Memorandum of Understanding Signing between ITIDA and Concentrix to expand operations in Egypt

Cairo (Jan. 28, 2025) — Today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and global technology and services leader Concentrix. The event was attended by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Mr. Chris Caldwell, President and CEO of Concentrix.

The MoU was signed by Eng. Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, and Mr. Amr Sobhi Bayoumi, General Manager of Concentrix Egypt.

The MoU aims to enhance the relationship between the two parties, supporting the expansion of Concentrix Egypt’s export-oriented services to multiple destinations. The MoU includes the company’s expansion plans in Egypt, aiming to create more than 15,000 job opportunities over the next four years. Upon its completion, this plan would  place the company among the largest global companies operating in Egypt in terms of workforce and job opportunities provided, supporting the state’s strategy for sustainable job creation for youth in the IT and communications sector.

Dr. Amr Talaat emphasized that Concentrix’ expansion in Egypt reflects global companies’ confidence in the Egyptian investment environment. It showcases Egypt’s success in enhancing its position as a leading global destination for outsourcing services, a fact that has been cemented in recent times. He noted that this planned expansion is the largest of its kind in the history of the outsourcing industry in Egypt, enhancing the sector’s international competitiveness. Government efforts in developing digital infrastructure and equipping Egyptian youth with technological and linguistic skills to offer competitive digital services were key factors behind the plan.

He added that the outsourcing industry is one of the pillars of Egypt’s economic development, contributing to creating thousands of new diverse jobs for Egyptian youth and driving digital export revenues.

Concentrix has been operating in Egypt since 2009, starting with 150 employees. It currently employs approximately 19,000 employees across 11 centers in four different governorates: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and Hurghada. The company plans to expand in Mansoura, as well as enhance its presence in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and Hurghada.

The company’s employees in Egypt provide services to clients in various sectors, including e-commerce, communications, tourism, technology, banks, financial technology, healthcare, media, communications, and transportation. Services are delivered from these centers in 12 languages, including English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Eng. Ahmed El Zaher expressed pride in signing the agreement, which strengthens Egypt’s position as a global outsourcing services hub. He noted that the Egyptian market hosts 6 of the world’s top 10 IT companies and 8 of the top 10 in outsourcing and call services. This highlights Egypt’s distinguished position in the sector. The agency promotes Egypt’s competitive advantages and plays a strategic role in attracting foreign investment, encouraging local industry, fulfilling its needs, and caring for investors, in addition to supporting training and employment initiatives and organizing job fairs to connect talents with sector companies.

Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stated: “Concentrix’s decision to significantly expand its operations in Egypt represents a remarkable vote of confidence in the country’s talented workforce and its position as a global hub for offshoring services. This strategic investment underscores the success of the government’s efforts to create a business-friendly environment, invest in digital skills development, and provide cost-competitive solutions for multinational companies.”

He continued, “This expansion—the largest of its kind in Egypt’s outsourcing history—not only reinforces the sector’s competitiveness on a global scale but also contributes to creating thousands of high-value job opportunities for young Egyptians. As one of the key pillars of economic development, the outsourcing industry in Egypt is driving digital exports and fostering inclusive growth by empowering the nation’s youth with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.”
